NOVEMBER 15th IS THE MARCH OF
DIMES´PREMATURITY
AWARENESS DAY
WHAT: Everyday 1 of 8 babies born in the U.S. are premature.
A very serious, costly and common problem.* In celebration
of the Prematurity Awareness Day, Belly-n-Kicks demonstrates
to South Florida moms how exercise can prevent premature
babies.
WHY: FIVE REASONS WHY EXERCISE CAN HELP PREVENT PREMATURE
BIRTH:
- Exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight.
Fertility is higher and pregnancy is healthier when
a women has
a BMI (Body Mass Index) between 20 – 25.
BMI is the ratio of height to weight.
- Aerobic exercise during pregnancy (specially first
and second trimester) enhances volume and function
of the placenta, which means more quality nutrients
for the baby.
- Moderate exercise during pregnancy helps to avoid
hypertensive disorders, which can lead to premature
birth.
- Exercise during pregnancy helps to have more energy
during the day, get a restful sleep at night and
relieve high levels of stress, which can lead to
premature
birth.
- Exercise and good nutrition during pregnancy are
key to maintain gestational diabetes under control,
which
can lead to premature birth.
